Considering the later winter conditions this season, it will be time to start looking for sheds later in January and early February 2011. Although the 2010 harvest numbers haven't been posted expect to see higher numbers this season as compared to last. Specifically in the C-zones, recently changed to a draw only tag. If you get drawn for a C-zone tag, this enables you to hunt zones C-1 thru C-4. Zones C-1,2 are primary Mule deer traveling from the East. As zones C-3,4 are more so resident Colombian black tail with a small mix of Mule. Also pay attention to the number increase in the D3-5 zones. These deer are both Colombian Black Tail and Mule.
As the Bear season comes to a close the annual Bear harvest for the 2010 season fell just shy of the 1700 mark. After the 2009 season, the Department of Fish & Game increased the annual Bear harvest to 1700. With an expanding population, Bear have fewer areas to call home. Always make sure to use proper safety whenever you are around Bear Country.
